This is Fischer esterification. It makes an ester (yeah, esterification makes an ester, who would’ve figured?) out of a carboxylic acid and an alcohol.
My tip for you remembering this reaction is that fish don’t drink alcohol and don’t like acid (and there are TWO acids in here! carboxylic acid and sulfuric acid solvent). And so a carboxylic acid and alcohol make ester, which sounds kind of like Easter, and fish hate Easter.
I don’t know why, they just DO.
So basically this reaction has a fishy name but is full of things fish hate.
